62 Maoist cadres surrender in Chhattisgarh
SIXTY-TWO alleged Maoists surrendered before Chhattisgarh Police in Narayanpur district on Tuesday, 55 of them with countrymade weapons, senior police officials said. Senior officers said increased police presence in Abhujhmaad, added to their growing disillusionment with Maoist ideology, forced the suspected left-wing extremists (LWE) to surrender. The officers said all 62 were lower-rung cadres, largely operating under Kutul area committee in the Abhujhmaad forests of Narayanpur district, in southwest Chhattisgarh bordering Maharashtra.
